I love Twitter. The connection with like-minded individuals in real-time… it’s incredible. But this post isn’t about Twitter. (If you haven’t heard of Twitter or just “don’t get it”, I highly recommend watching this two minute video titled, “Twitter in Plain English“)
This afternoon I was browsing Twitter and read the following message from David Cooley.
I couldn’t agree more. This is something that has been on my mind for a while now. Humans are excellent a mimicking behavior. It’s a survival skill. How many people are trying to do something new? I suspect the main reason we mimic others is to avoid risk. We figure, “if it worked for them, it will work for me.” Lets start trusting ourselves to be original.
What do you think?
Thanks to David Cooley (@cybercoder) for the inspiration.

Even if you weren’t my brother I would still make the effort to read your blogs, good stuff! I agree with this one, it does seem that people tend to use the “if it worked for them, it will work for me.” logic. The ones that do new things are the ones that will get recognized, say making artistic pancakes…
